ELI (Every Life Inspires)

“Thine eyes did see my substance being yet unperfect, and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.” (Psalm 139:16)

God has a special plan for each one of us before we are born. Some people live long lives to fulfill God’s plan, while others live only moments. Eli McGinley is one of those who lived only a few days but has made a huge impact on the world around him. He was born August 3 in Little Rock, Ark., with his twin brother Walker and passed away 5 days later on August 8.

Eli was born with spina bifida, a neural tube defect. His parents, Jesse and Jodie, allowed his birth to be videotaped for a documentary on raising a child with spina bifida. Although they never expected their son to be taken by his heavenly father so soon, they knew it was a part of God’s plan. The couple wants Eli’s life to touch many other families. They have donated his organs so that other children can live. The couple has also requested that loved ones donate to the unfinished video project that will now be named  E.L.I. (Every Life Inspires).

The goal of the video is to be a source of comfort to families expecting a child with spina bifida. As the McGinley’s know, there are a lot of questions and anxiety that come with the pre-natal diagnosis. They hope their story, as well as the stories of other Arkansans touched by spina bifida will provide strength, comfort and hope to expecting parents.

Sock monkeys 02/10/2011
Hello Loves :) just yesterday i found the cutest fad of sock monkeys from a sweet friend (go check out her blog its ahh-mazing!)  And we were talking about them when she asked me if i knew how to make sock monkey hats, well she sent me a link and My mom and I played around with it and came up with this ;) Im not sure i want to put them up for sale yet but if your interested in one let me know!

But getting away from that for a moment i wanted to just let you guys know that writing this blog has been almost like therapy to me. Although i know i havent written much, just knowing i have somewhere to write what i think has been nice :) i hope that this "blog" spot on my site can be a place where people can share their thoughts and feeling about well whatever i guess :P to be honest the sock monkey convo brought me a moment of clarity, i began thinking to myself "if someone can be so content with something as simple as a stuffed sock shaped like a monkey then why cant i be content with the many other things i have in my life."

So after coming to this realization ive decided to go back to the basics :) i'm thinking about starting a collection on just that! When valentines passes i'll start a "Basics" Collection on items i think bring us closer to realizing how happy we can be with basic doodahs :) well i suppose ill stop blabbering now and be off jajaja TOODLES :) stay safe....

Updates :D 01/30/2011
Hello to all my dezign darlings ;) I hope you've had a chance to see the new things I've posted in the "new dezigns" page! Ive been working on some valentine's projects to put up for the holidays as well!

Now getting away from knitting for a bit, i would love to put up one of my all time favorite comfort recipes for you to try out! Its a delicious Southern Banana Nut Bread (the nuts are optional) with a mouth watering banana frosting on top!
Enjoy and please keep me posted on your results! Toodles and HAPPY BAKING...

You will need:
1/2 cup of butter flavored shortening (you can use regular shortening and add butter flavor if you wish)
1-1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup mashed ripe bananas (2 or 3 medium sized)
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 cups of self-rising flour
1/2 cup of buttermilk (to improvise you can use regular milk and add 2 teaspoons of lemon juice)
3/4 cup of pecans (optional)
1/4 cup mashed banana
1/2 cup of butter (softened but not melted)
1-1/4 cup of confectioners sugar
1 teaspoon lemon juice (you can add more if the consistency is to hard to spread)

In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs. Blend in bananas and vanilla. Add flour alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition. Fold in pecans.
  • Pour into two greased 8-in. x 4-in. loaf pans. Bake at 350° for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack; cool completely.
  • For topping, combine the banana, confectioners' sugar and lemon juice; spread over loaves. Sprinkle with pecans. I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT!!!!!!!

Headband Crazee 01/21/2011
I cant believe how cold this winter has turned out to be. My ears were beginning to complain soooo my mom sister and I set out on a venture to cure cold ears :) To our delight someone who lived before us (who must have suffered from the same problem) wit-fully created earmuffs or ear warmers ;)
But alas if your anything like me you don't like the tight, squished feeling they give you! Therefore we put our knitting needles together and came up with a couple headband dezigns that do the job of warming your ears and looking fashionable all in one ;) so in your spare time go check them out in the New year, new dezigns page :) Thanks again for stopping by and reading my blog... Toodles for now!

I'm sorry I haven't been able to post anything new or put up new pictures. Ive been busy creating delightful things, and my amazing photographer has just begun the "photo process". As the holidays come to a close and the new year creeps by closer and closer I feel its time to put up all new dezigns for my darlings ;)

If any of you live anywhere close to me you don't need anyone to tell you its winter! Ill be putting up some cute gloves, mitts, and hats to keep you cozy!!!!  Thanx again for stopping by.... remember to keep me updated on your likes and dislikes.
